Today in the U.S. llamas are
bred and raised for packing, wool production, cart pulling, animal facilitated
therapy, companion animals, golf caddies, exhibition in shows, parades and
fairs, and guardians of other livestock such as sheep. Llamas are becoming
increasingly popular as a project animal for 4-H, Future Farmers of America (FFA),
and other youth activities.

Exhibiting at fairs, shows, public
functions and auctions can be a rewarding experience. Local associations also
sponsor shows and public functions. They are an excellent opportunity to meet
other llama breeders as well as gaining a wealth of information concerning
llamas. Showing your llama can be an excellent opportunity to have a great deal
of fun as well as spending more personal time with your llama.
